Sateen or Percale?
More important than checking for fabric or thread count is knowing the weave of a fabric, as the weave is what differentiates a sheet's feel and performance. Our weaves come in two varieties, Percale and Sateen. Both are great for all seasons and one isn't any better than the other. The difference is largely whether you like a matte finish or a glossy finish. Both are comfortable and sumptuous and will keep you cozy all night.
Percale Weave
A percale weave is created by weaving one warp thread over one weft thread in a one to one ratio, resulting in a fabric that is crisp and cool with a matte finish. Percale is highly durable, pill resistant and will stand up to years of use.
Sateen Weave
A sateen weave is created by weaving four threads over one, resulting in a more tightly woven sheet. Sateen sheets are silky smooth and soft with a luminous sheen. A good example of a Sateen sheet is a high-end hotel sheet. Due to its thick weave, sateen is naturally wrinkle-resistant and will last for years.
